Netflix to stream Starz to members, Xbox 360

Netflix Inc. on Wed. announced a partnership with Starz Entertinment LLC to offer to movies from Starz to be streamed to Netflix members.

Starz movies through the Starz Play broadband subscription service will be available to all Netflix members at no additional cost.

Microsoft Corp. this week said that Starz movies will be available to Xbox Live members through a new fall update that will add Netflix streaming functionality at no cost to existing Netflix members.

The Starz Play library will add 2,500 movies, TV, shows and concerts to the 12,000 movie and TV shows already available to stream via Netflix according to Xbox 360 Game Reviews.

The Xbox Live network holds 15,000 pieces of video content to purchase or rent.

Retailer Amazon.com in Sept. discounted a range of Xbox Live and Xbox 360 products to spur sales.

Last month, it price cut the Xbox Live 12-month Gold subscription for $38.96, a 22 percent discount from a $49.99 MSRP.

Additionally, it discounted the Xbox Live 4000 Points SKU to $39.97, down from $49.99, and the Xbox Live 1600 Points SKU to $15.97, down from $19.99.

Lastly, it discounted the Xbox 360 wireless controller to $36.96, a 26 percent price cut from the $49.99 MSRP.

The Xbox 360 sold 195,200 units in Aug. to rank at No. 4 in overall hardware sales, according to NPD Group Inc.
