Alcohol Related Deaths at a Major State University

Jenny worked in the health clinic of one of the largest state universities in the country.  After one of the students died last week from an alcohol overdose, she started to wonder how many alcohol related deaths there were at her university the past ten years.  This particular university has massive databases about almost every imaginable fact and statistic but not one for alcohol related deaths.  So Jenny had to go through the records manually.

The final results of her research confirmed her suspicion, namely that a number of students each year die from alcohol-related issues and problems.  While the number changed every year, the records demonstrated that on average, at least five students die every year from alcohol related accidents, crimes, and from alcohol poisoning.  While these numbers cannot be generalized to other colleges and universities with smaller student populations, they do point to the significance of alcohol in the death of college students.
