Donna worked hard while she was going to college. She did not have the money for purchasing cell phone service and a phone. She talked with her mom about it, and her mom felt that she should always have a phone with her. Her mom bought her a cell phone and phone cards so that she knew that Donna would have a way to get hold of her or her friends when she needed to. Plus, her mom just liked calling and talking with her a lot. She told Donna that she would keep getting her new cards when she needed them.
