The Baker’s Business Rates

My son is absolutely precious! A few days ago he came home from school and asked if we could visit the bakery. I told him that we didn’t really need anything, and then asked him why. He said that his class had taken a trip to the bakery, and the owner had explained to them how the business rates he pays helps provide certain public services, including those of police officers. My son said that we needed to visit the bakery more often, because they pay his father’s salary! Not quite right, but close enough that we went to the bakery the next day.
