More Than My Fair Share of Fires

As a chemistry teacher, I have had more than my fair share of fire scares. Kids just aren’t as careful as they should be around our Bunsen burners, no matter how many times I warn them. That’s why I require every single one of my classes to watch a fire extinguisher training video several times during the year. I make sure that they are listening, give a test on the information, and review it over and over again. Some people might think that it’s excessive, but it has saved my classroom more than once. I’d rather be safe than sorry, especially when I am dealing with other people’s children.
