Are Extended Warranties Cheaper for Newer Cars?

I am wondering how the pricing works for extended warranties. Does an extended warranty for cars get more expensive as a car gets older? And does it matter what type of car you have? I need to check and see how much they would charge me for my car since I am thinking it would be nice to have some insurance if something were to break on my car. I can’t afford any huge car bills, so I am hoping that a warranty will be less expensive and keep me from having to pay out so much money each year to keep my car running.
